Be Here: Get Movin’ at the Music & Market Series

From a Cajun fiddler to Latin beats with Polynesian dancing and a tribute to Prince on what would be his 60th birthday, Concord’s Music and Market Series is jam-packed with the playful sounds of summer this year.

This free annual series is celebrating its 29th year and kicks off Thursday, May 17 with Tom Rigney & Flambeau, a hot Cajun fiddler and his band, and closes on Sept. 13 with Annie Sampson, Concord’s own Queen of Blues. The popular Thursday night concerts — held in conjunction with the weekly Farmers’ Market – are not only drawing cover bands that will appeal to all ages, but showcasing some homegrown talent. Check out the full 2018 schedule here, and mark your calendar!

Concord’s Music and Market Series is very much about the music, but it’s also about bringing all generations of the community together. Grab your friends and family, some comfy lawn chairs and find that perfect spot on the grass. It’s a wonderful time to catch up with old pals, make new ones, and enjoy an evening in the comfortable park-like setting of Todos Santos Plaza.

If you’re so inclined, pack a picnic dinner (don’t forget the wine!), or enjoy the local food carts available offering brick-oven pizza, crepes and a variety of ethnic favorites. You can also load up on some of the succulent fruit and fresh vegetables from the farmers market. Don’t forget to purchase some flowers, as they are some of the freshest ones around.

And after the show, there’s no shortage of hang-outs around the plaza, including Hop Grenade, E.J. Phair Brewing Company and the Tower Grille.

The Music and Market Series gives you sneak peek into the vibrant arts and culture scene of Concord. It brings out a special essence of what it means to experience this community: togetherness, diversity and nourishment of the soul through music!
